The City of Tucson are pleased to ANNOUNCE,

“Winter Warming Shelter”

A new program to serve our neighbors in need

 

The Salvation Army and the City of Tucson are pleased to announce Winter Warming Shelter, a new program designed to assist our homeless community during the cold nights in the winter in Tucson.

The Salvation Army has opened 35 additional beds in the Hospitality House Shelter that safely follow all CDC guidelines.  All current open program beds were suspended through December 31, 2020 allowing us to open these beds for the new Winter Warming Shelter program.

Individuals can reserve a nightly bed by calling 622-5411 X5513 or come to the Hospitality House, 1002 N Main Ave. and reserve a bed in person.  Check in for daily beds is between 2 pm and 5 pm.

Individuals have access to a warm meal, showers, laundry and clothing as available. 

​

  • The new program started on December 4, 2020 within The Salvation Army Hospitality House Shelter, 1002 N Main Ave. and will operate from the Hospitality House through December 31, 2020.
     

  • The Winter Warming Shelter Program will move operations to The Salvation Army South Corps Community Center, 1625 S. Third Ave. on January 1, 2021 and end March 15, 2021. Check In: 4:30pm-6:00pm.
     

  • The Hospitality House will return to normal operations on January 1, 2021, and programs will once again be offered as Operation Deep Freeze.  We will provide cots at the Hospitality House on those nights it is called for freezing temperatures.  Check in will be at 4pm and guests leave at 8am.  They may return for nightly services 7 days a week. Operation Deep Freeze operates from November 15 through March 31.

 

Operating hours at the "South Corps Community Center":

4:30pm - 8:00am

  • Check In: 4:30pm-6:00pm

  • Dinner: 6:00-7:00pm

  • Breakfast: 6:30-7:30am

 

“We are grateful to the Community of Tucson  and to the City of Tucson for their time and generosity and for their consistent help to the homeless of Tucson this year. This  new program is so valuable because it gives our homeless citizens comfort during the winter. This will help us immensely so we can continue our mission serving the Tucson community during this time of need,” said Captain David Oh, Salvation Army Tucson City Coordination officer.
